Ambassador FAQs
What are GFS Ambassadors?
GFS Ambassadors are GFs members between the age of 18-30 who have registered to participate in Ambassador programming.
Why did you form the GFS Ambassadors?
This group was created to bridge the age gap between senior girls and adult members, with the goal of fostering an environment that nurtures future leaders. It also recognizes that young women—whether transitioning from high school, pursuing higher education, or beginning their careers—benefit greatly from ongoing connection and support through GFS. Providing encouragement during these pivotal stages of life reflects the founding vision of Elizabeth Townsend in 1875 and continues the GFS commitment to empowering women in faith and service.
What is the age group for Ambassadors?
The age Group for Ambassadors is 18-30.
What is the focus of Ambassadors?
The focus of GFS Ambassadors is rooted in the Four Pillars of GFS/USA: Study, Service, Worship, and Recreation. Each pillar plays an important role in building a well-rounded program that nurtures growth, faith, and community among young women.
Guided by our GFS motto, “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ,” Ambassadors seek to create spaces where young women are supported, encouraged, and uplifted. Through meaningful activities, fellowship, and service opportunities, we live out this mission together.
What is the commitment level if I register as an Ambassador?
Participation in GFS Ambassador activities is always flexible and never mandatory. We understand the many commitments young women balance in their daily lives, and our goal is to offer opportunities—not obligations. Once registered, you’ll receive information about all upcoming activities, and you can choose the ones that fit your interests and schedule. For the most enriching experience, we encourage ambassadors to explore activities across all four GFS pillars: Study, Service, Worship, and Recreation.
What can I expect from an Ambassador meeting?
Ambassador meetings typically last about an hour and are held virtually, making them easy to join from anywhere. Social meetings are a chance to relax, connect, and enjoy time together—whether welcoming someone new to GFS or catching up with old friends. These moments of fellowship help create the safe, supportive environment that carries into our book clubs and other activities.
During book club sessions, we begin with casual conversation before diving into chapter discussions, ensuring space for both connection and reflection. No matter the activity, Ambassador meetings are always designed to be comfortable, open, and welcoming spaces for all members.
Becoming a GFS Ambassador helps you stay connected to the wider GFS community while building meaningful friendships and experiences. Benefits include:
Stay Connected – Receive email updates about GFS/USA activities and opportunities.
Branch Connections – Keep in touch with your former branch or be introduced to a branch near you.
Community & Friendship – Reconnect with old friends and make new ones through social meetups, service projects, worship, and study opportunities.
Events & Gatherings – Gain eligibility to attend diocesan, national, and international GFS events, including the World Council.
Global Exchange – Become eligible to participate in the GFS World Joy Upton Exchange Program.
Joining as an Ambassador means being part of a supportive community—one that celebrates friendship, service, and spiritual growth while empowering young women to thrive.
