The girls hit the ground running upon their arrival and were prepared to serve in whatever capacity they were needed. They were an outstanding presence at the convention. Wherever they went, people were impressed by them and wanted to know more about GFS. Their primary task was to explain the GFS program to anyone they met. They attended meetings, dinners and presentations and met the soon-to-be-elected presiding bishop Reverend Michael Curry. They helped Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori bless and present the ECW crosses to about 500 women. They set out collection boxes for the GFS World Project. They ushered, LEM’d, and cheered at the ECW 5 K. It was a busy and demanding week.

What trip would be complete without a visit to the mall, so off to beautiful City Creek Center we went.

The girls enjoyed catching brine shrimp dipping their toes in the water and admiring the landscape. As we traveled the steep, narrow road up to the view the copper mine, the mountain views were breath taking. Our tour guide was a wealth of information and pointed out antelope, mule deer and an avocet along the way. Once we reached the top, we gazed down upon the copper mining pit and were astounded by the enormity of the site.
